Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2008-2009 - Match 20
Whilst not being too scientific, with the courtesy of Michael Wray's excellent spread sheet service:-

I can make the following New Year predictions for the end of the 2008-09 Premier League season:-

1. Spurs will finish a comfortable 11th, and on the way will beat Portsmouth and Stoke at home in the coming weeks, and Hull in late February at the KC Stadium. They will also gain revenge against West Brom, and beat Manchester City at The Lane in May.

2. Despite their current 7th place, Hull have a goal deficit of nine, and have won just one of their last 11 league games. They will manage a home win against West Brom, but will slide down to the bottom three and go down with Middlesbrough and Stoke.

3. Liverpool will win their first ever Premier League title, and Villa will retain their current top four place at the expense of the gooners, who will drift to seventh place, and maybe not even make Europe.

4. Everton will guarantee a place in Europe by finishing fifth, whilst West Ham will rise to sixth and rely upon an FA Cup victory for a top four side to make it to Europe.

5. Portsmouth will finish 4th from bottom, and West Brom WILL escape!

6. All predictions are variable with every set of games played in the Premier League programme, but my personal prediction is for Spurs to get back to Europe by retaining the Carling Cup!

Happy New Year everybody!
