Adebayor - Your Spurs player of the month!

On the day we play Arsenal at home in the North London Derby, I thought I'd offer you a quick review of Spurs' September performances, and mention that Emmanuel Adebayor has been voted the Spurs player of the month!

Spurs have played 6 games in the month, and once again a pattern has continued of Harry Redknapp fielding at least two completely different teams. You could almost say three teams this month, as that which beat Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night featured more of the first team squad's fringe players, whereas we took the Juniors to Greece for the PAOK game.

Whilst plenty of Spurs fans moaned about the summer transfer (in)activity, and the policy of not fielding strong teams in our cup games to date, the policy is paying off with our league form, as we won all three Premier League games this month, scoring 8 and conceding just one goal.

On the back of that league performance, Harry Redknapp has won the Barclays manager of the month for the second time whilst at Spurs, and the seventh time in total. Currently that's quite remarkable, considering that both Manchester teams lead the way, and are unbeaten, whilst Newcastle and Aston Villa are also unbeaten in the Premier League. The media loves our 'Arry, doesn't it? The 4-0 win against Liverpool must have had a lot of impact. It certainly did on me!

Those league wins have been achieved because of a number of factors. Adebayor has obviously caught the eye with his goal-scoring prowess (3 goals in his first two games). Jermain Defoe has already been finding the net with more frequency and consistency, and is our leading goal-scorer overall.

Then there has been the return of our very own Captan Marvel - Ledley King. Ledley has played all three of those league games, and as always has been so masterful, and exemplary in his style, temperament and coolness. Let's hope Ledley can play as regularly throughout the season, starting today against the gooners!

Luka Modric has emerged from the dark days of summer and the first month of the season with a return to his fine form, winning his way back intot the hearts of Spurs fans. Those fans were not generally impressed with the signing of 30 year old Scott Parker, but Parker has also been a star in those three league games.

There have been so many positives this month, and we haven't even mentioned Rafa van der Vaart, or Gareth Bale, who continue to play a big part in our big games. Younes Kaboul has been performing consistently and has played a part in most of our games. Kyle Walker has emerged as our first choice right back, offering unbounded excitement when unleashed to join the attack. Friedel is our Premier League keeper and continues his remarkable record of consecutive games - now entering the 270s. Youngsters such as Tom Carroll and Jake Livermore are playing regularly and winning affection. Danny Rose made his return against Shamrock Rovers. Some of our other junior players have been exposed to the environment of European andd Carling Cup Football. (That Carling Cup game was our one defeat of the month - and then only on penalties)

It's all going to swimmingly well really, and if Spurs can get a win today then we'll all be in clover, looking forward to a great October!

Don't forget to check out the cumulative appearances and grades for the players as the season progresses - below. The grades are based upon a mark out of ten, given by Spurs Odyssey readers.
