Potentially prickly at The Hawthorns!

Bearing in mind the summer transfer window friction between Spurs and West Brom, we could face a prickly game at The Hawthorns tomorrow. In fairness, the friction was at boardroom level, so the reception for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could be a frosty one.

Mauricio Pochettino has this week been quoted as being interested in proper striker cover for Harry Kane, and clearly Saido Berahino still meets the criteria of the Spurs head coach, who has been happy to have players like Son, N'Jie and (a fit) Chadli available to cover Kane. Thanksfully, Kane has kept fit and is one of four ever-presents in our 14 Premier League games so far this season.

The other three ever-presents are Walker, Alderweireld and Vertonghen. It is remarkable that Spurs have been able to field three of their defenders in every game. of course, Hugo Lloris only missed the first game at Old Trafford, so he is actually unbeaten in league football this season.

Spurs might be back for Berahino when the window opens next month, but the price will have to be right this time. Berahino is one of three West Brom players on three goals in the Premier League this season. The others are James Morrison and summer signing Rondon. Rondon was preferred last week at Upton Park, but looked lost until Ricky Lambert made a second half entrance. Berahino didn't even get on last week, and has started just 8 games this season for Tony Pulis, who I think was happy to let the young England player leave.

Tony Pulis was appointed in January, when West Brom were a little too close to the relegation zone for comfort, and with a decent end of season run he took them to a safe 13th place, where they sit at present.

"The Baggies" have lost 4 games at home so far, to Man City, Chelsea, Everton and most recently Leicester. Their last home game though saw a 2-1 home win against Arsenal. Having got a 1-1 draw last week at Upton Park, West Brom will be feeling quite confident about their chances tomorrow.

The Hawthorns has always been a tricky place to play. It is the highest football league ground in the country, and windy conditions are forecast. Spurs won 3-0 here in January with two goals by Harry Kane and one by Eriksen. The scoreline flattered us a little, and it was our biggest away win of the season.

West Brom's only injury problem is the long term absence of goalkeeper Ben Foster, who is still 4 weeks away with a cruciate knee injury. 33 year old Boaz Myhill has been an admirable deputy since March. We first encountered him in October 2008, when Hull, in their first Premier League season, beat Juande Ramos's Spurs 1-0. That was almost his last game in charge, before Harry Redknapp took over at the end of that month.

Dele Alli will return for Spurs after his one-match suspension. He will probably be a straight swap for Ryan Mason, who suffered an ankle injury in last Sunday's game against Chelsea. Nacer Chadli and Nabil Bentaleb are described as close to training with the team, so maybe we will see them before the busy Christmas and New Year period.

It's seven years since West Brom managed to beat us at home. They have only done that twice, but both wins were achieved in December - both on 28th! They did beat us at White Hart Lane last season, so we do need to be "en garde". I'll go for a 2-1 away win!

Tomorrow's match referee will be Jonathan Moss, who we last saw at Old Trafford on August 8th, when we suffered our only Premier League defeat of the season so far. On the plus side, Mr. Moss previously refereed our away win at Goodison Park in May.

· Did you know? - We first played West Brom at Villa Park in April 1901 in the FA Cup semi-final on our way to our historic first Cup Final success. We beat "The Baggies" (one of the founder members of The Football League) 4-0. All the goals were scored in the second half by Alex "Sandy" Brown, who scored in every round and scored a total of 15 FA Cup goals that season.
