Spurs Odyssey's exclusive form guide - The "Spursometer" - was created in November, 2000. It is produced for each competitive match for the first team, and is supported by a monthly and end of season form guide.
It will come as no surprise to you, that the results for August (in truth a 3 match burst of games in 8 days) confirm the worst start in the six years since the "Spursometer" was created, and that Spurs have had their worst start to a season since 2001 - when we drew two and lost one of our first three games.
It is of course early days, but there was a wave of great optimisim flooding The Lane, bearing in mind the arrival of such stars as Berbatov, Zokora and Ekotto. Berbatov has got off the mark, and impressed observers with his all-round game, winning a man of the match accolade from The Telegraph for his performance against Sheffield United.
Didier Zokora has found Premiership football a bit of a surprise, and has wisely been utilised sparingly by Martin Jol after the first exposure at The Reebock.
Ekotto has been very cool in defence at times, and overall won the fans over.
In their three games so far, Spurs have encountered the defensive 4-1-4-1 formation, and on two occasions faced athletic and physical challenges from Bolton and Everton. There will be plenty more such opponents and it will be up to Big Marty and his team to break down such resistance.
People are already bemoaning the loss of Carrick, and the new signings of Mido, Malbranque (unfit till November anyway!) and Chimbonda will not assuage those complaints.
Spurs fans are a demanding lot, and if the ship is not steadied and set on the right course soon, there will be plenty of paying and baying customers seeking an audience with "The Captain"!
One problem is that our next game is at Old Trafford, but at least we will get a game of attacking football there!
