You don't really need me to remind you what a terrible month January has been for Spurs. We won only one game, and that was the first of five played this month, when we beat Manchester City with a superb performance. Within days the players shamed us all, when giving away a two goal lead at Leicester, and succumbing to a late goal that left us with the worst of Cup records this season.
Another late goal did for us in the last game of the month at Craven Cottage, and such events are becoming nasty habits, with Anton Ferdinand's equaliser for West Ham coming to mind, and that debacle at Grimsby.
Speaking of West Ham, they did us all a big favour by getting a win at Highbury last night (1st February). Luckily for us, the Gooners are on a terrible run themselves, having only equalled our League results this month, but also getting knocked out of two cups, losing 4 games on the trot in the process. Apparently the confidence of a certain centre-half is shattered, but it is no use Spurs fans enjoying the schadenfreude if we fail to take advantage of the demise of our neighbours.
We must not forget the closing gap between ourselves and the likes of Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn and even West Ham - all of whom have chances of qualifying for Europe on present form.
Spurs are in the bottom half of the form table for the last 6 games, and despite the current injury, suspension and absentee problems, it is time for Martin Jol and his men to strike home for victory and the Champions League, which IS within their grasp. The loyal fans will be behind them all the way.
Spurs' quest starts this Sunday at home to Charlton. 13 more Cup Finals follow!COME ON YOU SPURS!
