Worthington Cup Final
How They Got There

13.09.01 - Spurs 2 0 Torquay

Ledley King and Les Ferdinand score the goals in a somewhat subdued atmosphere, just two days after the September 11th tragedy. Kasey Keller made his debut for Spurs, where the one minutes silence was immaculately observed. Gary Doherty was stretchered off, and has yet to make his comeback.

09.10.01 - Tranmere 0 4 Spurs

A comfortable win for Spurs at Prenton Park, where the gap in class was all too obvious. Sheringham scored an early penalty, and Tranmere lost Micky Mellon early on for a second bookable offence. There were goals also from Darren Anderton, Gus Poyet, and Sergei Rebrov. Tim Sherwood did not make his substitute appearance until the 71st minute, but still managed to get sent off for two bookable offences! Referee Phil O'Dowd is the worst I've seen this season.

29.11.01 - Fulham 1 2 Spurs

Quite an exciting night at Craven Cottage, when I sat near Ricky Villa! Rebrov started and scored after a quarter of an hour, but Barry Hayles was allowed to equalise on half time. Simon Davies scored a late winner. Boa Morte was subject to considerable abuse, and missiles, which is one reason why we have been allowed just 750 supporters for the away league fixture next month.

11.12.01 - Spurs 6 0 Bolton

What a great night! 6-0, with a hat-trick from Les Ferdinand. Simon Davies and Steffen Iversen added their names to the score chart, along with Barness with an own goal. So what if Bolton didn't care about this tournament? We showed great skill in taking them apart.

09.01.02 - Chelsea 2 1 Spurs

Les Ferdinand scores a vital away goal, but could have had another, but it didn't matter in the end, despite Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink's double strike, because of that marvellous 5-1 a fortnight later!

23.01.02 - Spurs 5 1 Chelsea

FIVE-ONE!!! What a night, and what a way to reach this final. Five different goalscorers, and great performances all round, including that of the crowd. It was a real party wasn't it?

Blackburn's path to the final:-

12.09.01 bt Oldham 2-0 (H) with goals by Jansen & Dunning
10.10.01 bt M'brough 2-1 (H) with goals from Hignett & Short (a.e.t)
28.11.01 bt Man City 2-0 (H) with goals from Johansson & Johnson
11.12.01 bt Arsenal 4-0 (H) - goals by Jansen (3) & Hughes
08.01.02 bt Sheff Wed 2-1 (A) - goals from Hignett & Cole
22.01.02 bt Sheff Wed 4-2 (H) - goals from Jansen, Duff, Cole, Hignett
