At the turn of the New Year, Leeds were still top of the league, and being spoken of in terms of Championship contenders. They lost their way however, with bad defeats to Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool, and have now fallen out of the top four, still struggling for a Champions League slot. They do seem to be returning to form however, with three wins in their last six games, and a great fightback from 4-1 down yesterday against their arch-enemies Man Utd.
On form then one wouldn't fancy Spurs to win this. We haven't beaten Leeds in a while, but we must be due a win over a club higher than us in the league, mustn't we? Glenn may ring the changes after the Borough game. I expect to see Teddy Sheringham start. Dean Richards will be challenging for his place back, but why should any of the centre backs concede to him, after their excellent showing at The Riverside?
Robbie Keane is a player I like, and still have hopes that he may appear in a Spurs shirt before long. He is not getting a regular place since Robbie Fowler's arrival, and Chairman David Ridsdale has said that players will have to be sold this summer if Leeds miss out on the Champions League. Team news will follow, but with Rio Ferdinand missing, Leeds may be penetrated, as Man Utd showed. Spurs have not got that sort of firepower unfortunately, so I am going to have to predict a 2-1 win for Leeds, much as I hope for the opposite result.
A good game is in prospect for those at The Lane and Sky TV viewers.
