The best moment of last year? It's a tricky one. There wasn't a stand-out game as far as the team's performance was concerned. I'm tempted to say early in the season when we topped the league and paraded Robbie Keane around the pitch as a new signing. It was a lovely day, everthing seemed rosy and even the sun came out to allow us to bask in an afternoon's drinking and hoping.
But the subsequent false dawn has made that day have more depressing associations. So, instead, I'm going to go for the 4-1 win over Sunderland at the Lane in February. I'm an identical twin, and since we were kids brought up in Hoddesdon me and my twin brother have been Spurs fans - we used to watch them train at Brookfield Farm, but our family could never afford to take us to a game. I've been a member and going to the Lane with my wife a lot over the past few years as work has brought me back to North London, but I'd never been to a game with my twin brother, who's now living in Brighton.
So, when the fixture list gave us a home game on Feb 8th - two days after our shared birthday - we decided to go for it. In the end we bought 8 tickets for us and our mates. We were tucked right up in the south corner of the West Stand, but it didn't matter. We got suitably lubricated before the game, and turned up to watch Spurs biggest win of the season, including Teddy's 300th goal.
Despite all of the disappointments of last season, I'm happy that Spurs could at least pull out the goods for my birthday. And, finally, I stood shoulder to shoulder with my twin brother at the Lane, cheering and singing away as we'd wanted to when we were kids.
