Brian alludes towards the irony of Spurs having to play this game on Sunday, because of our defeat to Rovers at Wembley earlier this year. (You could read that report here, if you really wanted to) What with having played against Cardiff this week, we have ahd enough links to an inglorious day in our recent history.
There's not a great deal I can add to Brian's comments really, except to say that the form of these two sides seems to be diametrically opposite. Blackburn have won their last two league games, and are on the crest of a wave after reaching the next round of the UEFA cup. We know only too well about our own demise from the early top of the table form.
Glenn Hoddle has suggested that neither Steffen Freund or Mauricio Taricco will be fit enough to play on Sunday, although they are in the squad. I hope they do play, and that Spurs repeat the style of football they displayed for much of Tuesday's game. Blackburn will be missing skipper Gary Flitcroft, and Dwight Yorke, who recently suffered a hamstring injury.
Most of Rovers goals have come from midfield so far. Look out for David Thompson, who is their top league scorer with 3 so far. Damien Duff scored in this fixture last year, and together with David Dunn, will be a threat. I think we will do well to come away with a point, and predict a 1-1, with Robbie Keane scoring our goal. (Well, it must happen soon, mustn't it?)
