4 F's sake - Freakish February Form Figures!

Today's Form Guide is brought to you by the Number 4!

Leap Years come around just once in 4 years, and strange things are reputed to happen, such as young maidens proposing marriage to their men.

Strange things certainly happened to Spurs in February, 2004.

· There were 4 matches played.

· In each of those 4 matches at least one of the sides scored 4 goals!

· Spurs scored 4 in three of the games!

· Jermain Defoe scored 4 goals in his first three games, and showed the sort of class that brings hope for the future, and wins him my Man of the Month award.

· Robbie Keane also scored 4 goals, and in the absence of Fredi Kanoute took over as leading goalscorer of the season so far with 14 (12 in the League).

· The game against Leicester was (unsurprisingly) the highest score-draw in the league so far this season. The Leicester centre-backs were Taggart (number 4) and Dabizas (number 44)

· Spurs currently have no number 4 in their squad, indicative of that deficiency we have known about all season for a defensive midfielder!

· It was Spurs highest scoring draw since December, 1980 (home to Southampton).

· Spurs drew their first game in 15 fixtures, and their first (league) score-draw of the season!

· Spurs have scored first in 9 of their last 10 games.

· Spurs have scored in every game (10) played in 2004 to date.

· Whilst the goal-leakage in February was distressing for Spurs fans, and is an ongoing concern, it is a fact that we won 2 and drew the third of our league games, and we have only been beaten once in the league in 2004, as we have climbed from 18th to 10th place in the table.

· March will bring fresh and harder challenges, as we entertain Newcastle, and travel to Carling Cup winners Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Southampton. It is feasible that we won't get a single point from those games, but let's look on the bright side and look forward to being entertained, at least!

· Finally, here's a bit of trivia for you. Did you know that February 2004 was the first time since 1976 that the month had 5 Sundays? The next time this will happen will be 2032. Let's hope Spurs do not have such a weird month before then!
