The record shows that honours are even between these two sides at home and away in the Premiership, with both teams having won 4 games at home and away. A tight game can be expected this week.Hopefully Spurs will be out for revenge for one of their most lack-lustre displays of last season (and that's saying something), when they lost 4-0 at home on the last day of the season. We managed a win at their place last year, when Robbie Keane scored his first goal for the club, and Jamie Redknapp managed a flukey winner, with only a minute of the game left.
Blackburn have played 4 of their last 6 games away from home, and won only 1 of those (2-1 at home to Everton). Their only other home win was against Wolves by 5 goals to 1 on Day One of the season. Whilst Graham Souness's side got a creditable result at Old Trafford, they have had disappointing results at Leicester and Leeds, who are 2 of the only 3 teams below them. Spurs can expect yet another tough battle against a team desperate to climb away from the relegation zone.
Fredi Kanoute is not likely to be fit, and the fact that Bobby Zamora played the full 90 minutes for the reserves midweek at Upton Park suggests that Helder Postiga will get yet another chance to break his duck. If that happens, and if Robbie Keane is on fire then we could give the home side a hard time.
Andy Cole and Lucas Neill (he of the two red cards already this season) are both suspended. Tugay and Flitcroft will be fit so Spurs can expect a tough midfield battle should they care to get involved on a physical level! Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole and Matt Jansen have only managed 9 goals between them so far, and Souness is rumoured to be considering 19 year old Paul Gallagher.
The referee for Saturday's game will be Graham Poll, who last looked after a Spurs game at Chelsea, when he booked 4 Spurs players and 2 of the Chelsea team.
As I cannot make my mind up about this game, I'll predict a draw, going for a 1-1 scoreline. I'll be at the game, so expect my full match report late on Saturday, or mid-morning Sunday - make it a date!
