The last time Spurs played Leicester at home, the line-up looked like this:-

Spurs (4-4-2):- Sullivan; Taricco, King, Richards, Thatcher (sub Thelwell, 64); Davies, Anderton, Sherwood (Capt), Etherington; Iversen, Ferdinand (sub Rebrov, 82)

Subs not used:- Keller; Leonhardsen; Sheringham

No less than 10 of the 16 names above have moved on (although there are rumours that Rebrov thinks he could return to Spurs at the end of the season). Two of the above plus Steffen Freund figure in the Leicester frame this week, and apart from Thatcher, any ex-Spurs man in the opposition line-up (and this includes goalkeeper Ian Walker) will get a rousing reception from the home fans.

The big point to make about the difference in Spurs is about the great reduction in the average age of the likely team, although Ziege, Anderton and Redknapp may all be on the verge of returning to the squad. Keane and Defoe have been working really well together, and Fredi Kanoute must surely have to start on the bench. Due to the fitness of so many players, David Pleat will have a few dilemmas, but the one regarding strike partnership should be one of the easier ones to solve. However, where does he play Ledley King now, after such a good game for England against Portugal? Will Simon Davies be fit enough after his knock on International duties? (Apparently he will)

Les Ferdinand has scored 10 goals (9 in league) so far this season, which means he is heading to do better for Leicester, than in any season he spent with us - although much of his time with Spurs was in the treatment room. Les did manage 15 in all competitions for us in 2001-2 season.

Leicester have gone 12 league games without a win (2-0 away to Portsmouth on 29th November).Their best spell of the season came in November and December when they were unbeaten and even managed a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. It was during that time that Leicester got their only two away wins (the other losers were Man City) of the season to date, and, apart from a reasonable start to the campaign, enjoyed their best league positions of 13th and 15th in the table. With only 4 wins all season, and being back in the bottom three, the Foxes will of course be desperate for a win on Sunday.

And who can say it won't happen? After all, Spurs have become the most unpredictable side in the league, which has to be an improvement from the 4 consecutive losses that took them into the relegation zone at Christmas.

Form-wise, over the last 6 games, Spurs are second-top of the table, and Leicester second-bottom, so the runes do seem to be mightily against Micky Adams' side. I take Spurs to "land the odds" as they say in betting parlance, and win convincingly. I'll settle for a 3-1 victory.
