Exclusive story of Martin Jol's last full season at Spurs"

If Alasdair Gold's "Ode to Jol" was an account of Martin Jol's first full season in charge at Spurs, then "Spurs Odyssey:Season Review 2006-07" is the first available and exclusive account of Jol's second and last full season as Head Coach.

Please ignore the Amazon Headline price of £14.24! The book is available for as little as £6.46 at the time of writing (31.10.07) via associates linked on the Amazon page

Written by the webmaster of Spurs Odyssey - Paul Smith - the book consists of fully detailed match reports of all 59 first team games played in a season that encompassed decent runs in all three cup competitions, as well as the highs and lows of the Premiership campaign.

The book tells of the worst start to a season for 6 years; Paul Robinson's loss of form in his first league campaign after the 2006 World Cup; the record run of 8 consecutive victories in Europe; the failure to score a league goal in open play until December, when we recorded our first away league win; the marvellous win over Chelsea that finally lifted the longest running hoodoo over our club; the supreme skills of Berbatov; the eventual free scoring of all three of our top-name forwards (Berbatov, Keane and Defoe); the purple patch that lasted from mid-February to mid-March; the sad fact that as soon as we met a decent side in a cup competition, we lost; and finally the stumble to a second successive fifth place and another qualification for Europe. In Jol's words, we had finished "Best of the Rest" for the second year running.

So, while the second season was more entertaining than the first (in which we were kicked out of both domestic cups at the first hurdle by lesser opposition), there were signs last season to indicate that Jol's third start to a season was not going to be too easy.

"Spurs Odyssey:Season Review 2006-07" was not written with foresight of course, but it surely does now serve as a complete record (with full match and player statistics) of what must be heralded as Martin Jol's best full season at Spurs.
