This preview is being written before tonight's game, but because of Spurs Odyssey being offline, will not be read until after the game. Some may say, "What's the point of that?", but it does help to maintain the records, and to indicate what I thought would happen before the game was played!
There should be a terrific atmosphere at The Lane tonight, as the home crowd gloats as much as possible over the Carling Cup victory (Let's parade the Cup again!), and the away fans will no doubt gloat over their superior Premier League position and of course their record against us.
Apart from the Carling Cup, we might mention our famous 2-1 league win on Fireworks Day 2006, when Robbie Keane left Boulahrouz in his wake and provided the cross from which Aaron Lennon scored that fantastic winning shot that dissected the outstretched John Terry and Ashley Cole.
Chelsea are currently on another great run of League form, and serious challengers for the Premier League title. Theye are only three points behind the front two, and (I know it's a big if) if United were to lose to Bolton tonight, then the top three would be level on points. It is going to be quite a run-in for the title, and also the fight against relegation, from which Spurs are just about safe, although we do need two or three wins from our remaining games just to settle our status. We do look destined to be "best of the bottom half" this season though.
Spurs now have three consecutive home games, and both Chelsea and Portsmouth will be tough opposition. Chelsea are unbeaten in 12 league games, since losing at Arsenal in December. A draw in tonight's game would be a creditable result, and might just about be possible.
