The pressure is well and truly on the players and the management at Spurs, who must win tomorrow to lift themselves off the bottom of the Premier League table. If Manchester United lose at Chelsea (not beyond the bounds of possibility), and Spurs gain a two-goal win then we could go ahead of United in the table. Writing this preview before even all of today's results are in, such a win should be enough to get us out of the bottom three.

Last year's home match was Juande Ramos's first Premier League game at White Hart Lane. Spurs were in 17th place after 12 games, with only the 4-0 win over Derby to their name as far as league victories were concerned. Wigan were 18th and without a manager, but they were soon to appoint Steve Bruce who turned round their fortunes, and has toughened them up again this year.

Spurs got a second league win, also by 4-0, and this is one of few games where we will be able to refer scorers in a corresponding game who are still on our books, as Jenas got two, and Aaron Lennon and Darren Bent also scored. This was Wigan's seventh consecutive defeat, and they had to wait till mid-December for their next league win which came in dramatic style against near-neighbours Blackburn. This was a 5-3 extravaganza in which Marcus Bent got a hat-trick, but he is now playing at Birmingham.

Wigan do have a power-house strike force in Emile Heskey, back in favour with England, and Egyptian International Amr Zaki, who is joint top-scorer in the Premier League with four goals in 4 games. Zaki also scored in the Carling Cup win over Notts County. Palacios and valencia have been impressing in the midfield, and former Spur Michael Brown may get a start with Lee Cattermole suspended after two yellow cards last week. Another ex-Spur Erik Edman is out for a further 4 weeks after his serious knee injury sustained last season.

Wigan have only won one league game so far, which was the astounding 5-0 win at Hull. It will need a win by the same margin by Spurs to go above Wigan in the current table, so that is not going to happen.

Indeed, those Spurs fans who think a win is as good as in the bag had better think again, as for all the assembled stars in our team, they have yed to meld into a unit. Juande Ramos hinted at a rest for Darren Bent after the Wikla Krakow game, as Bent has played 90 minutes in all 5 of our games so far. After his exciting debut on Thursday night, Fraizer Campbell may well get a start next to Roman Pavlyuchenko, and one assumes that Vedran Corluka will also return to the side. Where he will play is up for debate of course. Gunter could hold onto the right back slot, and if Ledley King is not fit to play, then Corluka might be the better option at centre-back.There is no news as yet on the fitness of fellow Croatian Luka Modric, who suffered a knee injury in Monday night's Villa game.

I do not have the confidence in Spurs to keep a clean sheet, but I do have high hopes of a win by 3-1, perhaps with first goals by Pavlyuchenko and Campbell.
