It's crunch time yet again!

When Spurs visited Villa Park in November it was the game following our 9-1 thrashing of Wigan. Whilst we had to be satisfied with a draw, it was a performance which saw Spurs dominate proceedings, despite going down to Agbonlahor's 10th minute goal. However, it took us until the 77th minute before skipper for the day Michael Dawson hit a great shot to make the scores level in a game where Villa manager Martin O'Neill admitted he was grateful for the point. Spurs had played as good controlled football as at any other time in the season, and out-fired Villa with 17 shots on target against their 4.

With only two points between us, and with Villa having a game in hand, Saturday's game is yet another "six-pointer" with Spurs in the greater need of the win to at least put sufficient distance between us and one of our main rivals for tat coveted fourth place. The trouble is of course that we also have Manchester City and Liverpool breathing down our necks. I'd go as far as to say that anything less than a win would leave the odds stacked against us.

Villa suffered a blip over Christmas, losing at The Emirates and at home to Liverpool, and they also failed to score at home against West Ham and the gooners, whose manager had the audacity to criticise his opponents successful strategy of neutralising the team we all love to hate. Villa's away win at Craven Cottage was very welcome, and does put them back in the hunt we want to win. Their game in hand is at Wigan, who sprung an opening day surprise by winning 2-0 at Villa Park.

Villa's last visit to The Lane was in September 2008, when Juande Ramos's side lost 2-1. Darren Bent's 87th minute goal was nothing more than a consolation after Reo-Coker and Ashley Young had put the visitors in the ascendancy.

6 months later Bent scored again, and in fact nicked the winning goal off Robbie Keane, as he got the touch to put the ball over the line to seal a 2-1 victory. The following week, we beat Chelsea moving up to 9th place in the league putting relegation fears well behind us.

Villa have no major injury worries, although they may still be missing Stephen Warnock, and they will be without Nigel Reo-Coker who is at least three months away from fitness. of course they now have a fit Stewart Downing, who has 9 Premier League starts under his belt since his come-back from the injury he had when signed from Middlesbrough.

30 year old Richard Dunne has been a stalwart since being signed at the end of August from Man City, where he was club captain, and where he was discarded without a bye or leave. Dunne has played 90 minutes in all the 24 games he has played in for Villa, with 20 of those being in the league. Villa have managed 11 clean sheets in those games too. Villa have not exactly been prolific goal-scorers though, and their top scorer is Gabriel Agbonlahor, with Carew and Milner sharing second place on 4 league goals. World Cup hopeful Emile Heskey is not guaranteed a starting place and only has two league goals to his name.

Spurs got through their Cup win at Leeds, without utilising Wilson Palacios or Luka Modric, so there are at least two pairs of fresh legs for this game. Ledley King was also rested and will probably partner Michael Dawson. That's another half pair of fresh legs! Aaron Lennon needs two more weeks, and Assou-Ekotto might need a few more days before he can seriously challenge the in-form Gareth Bale. No doubt we will see something of loan signing Eidur Gudjohnsen, but I suspect he will start from the bench. Similarly, the recalled Kyle Walker (yet to make a Spurs debut) and the re-signed Younes Kaboul are also likely to be on the bench.

I usually round off these previews with a prediction. Of course, my heart desperately wants to say that Spurs will win and will maintain their challenge. The crowd needs to really get behind the team from the outset and will them on to victory. I fear that we will have to settle for a 1-1.
