Let's put these to bed, Spurs!

The form of both contestants in this fifth round replay has not been great since the disappointing 0-0 at Broadhall Way, Stevenage on February 19th. Spurs have lost both the league games played, and Stevenage have lost two and drawn two of their League One games. Stevenage are still playing catch-up on most of their rivals for a play-off place, but since our FA Cup meeting they have dropped out of the play-off zone.

Stevenage lost two away games (1-0 to Notts County and 2-0 at League One leaders' Charlton), and then had to come back to manage draws at home to Huddersfield and at St. James' Park, Exeter on Sunday. Town have got seven more league games to play before the end of March, but I don't expect their players to come to White Hart Lane just to admire the scenery.

Goalkeeper Chris Day, a former Spurs reserve keeper, and still a fan, is looking forward to coming to The Lane and not paying to get in. Chris was on our books between 1993 and 1996, but at best was behind Erik Thorstvedt and Ian Walker in the pecking order, and never made a first team appearance. Day played 11 Premier League games for Watford in the 1999-2000 season, but was on the bench for both the games against Spurs.

Ronnie Henry also never quite made a first team appearance (he was an unused substitute), but he can say he trod and played on the hallowed turf in front of a 27,000 crowd for the Tottenham Tribute Trust game against DC United in October, 2002. This was a friendly game, and Ronnie played whilst Spurs legends, Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, Teddy Sheringham, Jurgen Klinsmann and Paul and Clive Allen were on the pitch. Ronnie was our reserve team captain during his time at Tottenham, so he obviously trained with many other famous Spurs names. I noticed that Ronnie was an unused sub at Exeter, but he did play the preceding game, so hopefully he will be involved tomorrow.

I am sure that both Chris Day and Ronnie Henry have played at White Hart Lane in Youth or Reserve games, but they will savour tomorrow night in front of what looks like being a near full house. The Stevenage team and style will surely be similar to that we faced two and a half weeks ago.

Harry Redknapp says he will be fielding "a very strong team" for this game, but it will not include Ledley King, who will be resting up ready for Saturday's game at Goodison Park. Louis Saha is also a doubt with a knee problem, so Jermain Defoe will definitely start, although whether he will have a natural strike partner such as Adebayor remains to be seen. Scott Parker and Gareth Bale are also available, whilst both William Gallas and Van der Vaart have returned to training and could be in the reckoning. Gallas is being mooted as a possible starter, but I'd be surprised to see Van der Vaart start this one.

As always in these situations, it is difficult to foresee the Spurs team, but it will surely include Carlo Cudicini, Michael Dawson and Danny Rose. I'd love us to get the goals, then bring on the kids. Well, three of them, anyway! Talking of three, I'm going to predict a 3-0 for Spurs.

A home quarter-final against Bolton beckons, and then a trip or two to Wembley, where the semi-finals will again be played this year. Don't mess this up Spurs! Let's put these to bed!
