Looking for Number Six

Spurs travel to the KC Stadium today looking for their sixth consecutive away win in the Premier League. They are quite capable of doing this too, despite the mid-week thrashing administered by the team most people are now hailing as Champions elect - Manchester City.

Spurs have quite a bit of positive news as they approach this game. Firstly Danny Rose's red card, adminsistered by Andre Marriner, has been rescinded, and he will be available for this game. Secondly, Spurs have said that Jan Vertonghen, Paulinho and Younes Kaboul are all in the squad. Sandro, Townsend and Lamela remain absent, but "closer to return".

I would suggest that Vertonghen could well start, perhaps giving Chiriches a welcome rest. He and club captain Michael Dawson have had to hold the fort for 8 consecutive games. Hopefully, Paulinho can start in the middle next to Dembele, who has not been announced as injured, despite his half-time replacement on Wednesday. We could see a return to 4-4-2 by Sherwood, with Eriksen holding the left side position behind Adebayor and Soldado.

More good news for Spurs comes in the shape of Jake Livermore's enforced absence, as part of the conditions of his season-long loan. There were rumours yesterday morning that Livermore might be recalled by Tottenham, but the story, which first appeared on the Daily Mail website seems to have been withdrawn. Some consternation was expressed amongst Spurs fans already disappointed to see Lewis Holtby allowed out on loan to Fulham. Hull also have to make do with Steve Harper in goal, due to number one keeper McGregor's red card at Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Defeat at Palace was a severe blow for Hull, who find themselves still immersed in the relegation battle even though they are in thirteenth place. Villa, in tenth place after a 4-3 win against West Brom, have given themselves some breathing space, but all of the teams in the bottom half are looking over their shoulders.

The recently shorn Tom Huddlestone will be keen to score again, or offer a telling pass against his old team.

Hull's most impressive result was perhaps their 3-2 away win at Newcastle in September. Other than that, the 3-1 home win over Liverpool and a 6-0 home win over a sad Fulham side on 28th December stand out. Hull's other successes this season have been to beat the teams around them.

Steve Bruce has done good business in the January transfer window, bringing in Jelavic from Everton and Shane Long from West Brom, both on a permanent basis.

Hull gave us two tough games in consecutive matches at White Hart Lane in October. A Soldado penalty gave us a 1-0 win in the league match. This was the occasion when AVB criticised the fans over a lack of atmosphere, and perhaps began to lose favour amongst those loyal fans, who were already being targeted over the "Y word" issue.

It took a penalty shoot-out (the first we had won for 19 years!) to determine the result in the League Cup game on October 30th.

Our home record against Hull in three Premier League games has not been great, but we won well on both our visits to the KC stadium. In February 2009, Spurs got a crucial 2-1 win , thanks to goals by Aaron Lennon and Jonathan Woodgate. I still don't know quite what Woodgate's goggle celebration was about! This win came at a time when Harry Redknapp was still clawing Spurs away from the relegation zone. Robbie Keane had been re-signed, and Captained Spurs to victory, leading us on a 6 game unbeaten run, which included a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

We started the following season well, with four opening league wins, which included a magnificent 5-1 win over Hull, when Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick.

As Steve Bruce's side demonstarted against us in October, they can be very resilient, but I expect Spurs to bounce back from that City defeat, and continue the away winning streak. I have gone for a 2-0 win.

Today's referee will be Anthony Taylor. We haven't seen much of him in charge of Spurs' games. His last outing with us was the Boxing Day game against West Brom, when he was criticised for leniency towards the visitors' foul play and time-wasting.

· 15 years ago this week - Iversen scored an equaliser to make it 1-1 at Blackburn
