Let the story be about football, and a Spurs win!

Spurs face a difficult trip to Russia for their second Champions League Group E game. Their opponents are the Russian League Champions (for the 13th time) CSKA Moscow, whose full title is "PFC Central Sport Club of the Army, Moscow". The club was founded in 1911, and this season they have a new stadium - "Arena CSKA" - which was only completed in recent months.

Bearing in mind the "Premier Liga" 30 game season started in July, and the stadium opened later, I assume this is the reason that 6 of CSKA's 8 games so far have been played away from home. They are doing alright, standing second in the table behind Spartak Moscow, although they dropped a home point on Saturday, drawing 1-1 against Krasnodar, who compete in The Europa League this year.

CSKA's goal on Saturday was scored by Lacina Traore, who has scored two other goals this season. Traore is on loan from our first opponents Monaco, and started both our Europa League games against the French League side last year.

Like most of you, I will not be making the trip to Moscow, which involves jumping through Russia's visa hoops, as well as being one of the more expensive trips to make. The Spurs official site posted this important advice to travellers - http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/travel-advice-for-fans-travelling-to-cska-moscow-v-spurs-champions-league-220916/ - and I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable trip. Unfortunately there has been plenty of negative publicity about the Russian fans, who lived down to their reputation in France this summer. Let's hope the story tomorrow is about football only! (and a Spurs win!)

Having lost that first game, I think it is important - perhaps crucial - that Spurs get something out of this game. Defeat would make qualification out of the group very hard indeed. I haven't seen a squad announcement, but I have seen pictures on social media which suggests that Pochettino has taken his strongest available squad. Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies, Michel Vorm and Cameron Carter-Vickers were pictured at the bottom of the steps of their plane. Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Kieran Trippier could be seen on the plane. I understand that Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele have not travelled. Harry Kane is of course missing, but Moussa Sissoko has also not made the trip. A team similar to Saturday's line-up at Middlesbrough can be expected, with the likely exception of Lamela for Sissoko.

Spurs have never met CSKA in competition. We have played Russian teams in three seasons in recent years, and travelled there twice in the last five years. In December 2008, Spurs hosted Spartak Moscow in the old UEFA Cup Group stage format, where teams met once only at home or away. The match was drawn 2-2, and we qualified for the Round of 32, when we lost on aggregate to Shakhtar Donetsk. New manager Harry Redknapp had other priorities that season. Well, one to be precise, which was Premier League survival!

Harry Redknapp had succeeded Juande Ramos, who has also managed CSKA since he left Spurs. Juande, who did win us our last trophy, didn't stay much more than a year in Russia, and after a good spell with Dnipro, he is back in Spain this season with Malaga.

Spurs' previous two away official trips in Russia were firstly in November 2011, when we lost 1-0 to Rubin Kazan, and then in October 2013 when we beat Anji 2-0 with goals by Jermain Defoe and Nacer Chadli. Bill Nicholson did take his Spurs team to what was then "The USSR" in 1959, when we played Torpedo Moscow (won 1-0), Dynamo Kiev (1-1), and a CCCP Select XI (lost 3-1) in Leningrad. Johnny Brooks, who died earlier this year, played in all three of those games, and scored three goals. Terry Medwin had scored our goal against the Moscow side.

In their first Group E game away to Bayer Leverkusen, CSKA went 2-0 down within 15 minutes, but came back through goals by Russian International midfielder Alan Dzagoev and Finnish International Roman Eremenko, who has also scored three league goals in the 8 games played so far this season. CSKA have also got Israeli midfielder Bebars Natcho, who played for Rubin Kazan against Spurs in 2011, and scored their winner in that November 1-0 win. Most of the CSKA squad are Russian, but as with a lot of European sides, they do have a Brazilian player. Their man is a defender - Mario Fernandes - who has started all their league games, and the Champions League game in Germany.

Spurs should be strong enough to at least bring home a point from Moscow. A win would be a dream result in the context of their Group E chances, I think. I am hoping that CSKA are still getting used to their stadium, and that might apply to their fans too - perhaps in the same way as West Ham have been struggling on and off the pitch in The London Stadium! I'll go for the draw.

Tomorrow's match officials are from Spain. We have seen referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz on two previous occasions. The first was for our 3-0 home win against Inter in March 2013. Then in Febtuary 2014, Senor Lahoz took charge of our 1-0 defeat against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine. Juande Ramos was Dnipro's manager at the time!
