Greatest Spurs Comebacks in History

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Some of the matches that stand in the foreground are the ones with major comebacks. There is quite something special about the games you think might be lost when they suddenly turn around and become a success story. Read more about some of the greatest Spurs comebacks in history right here.

One of the things that make football really exciting is that you never know what’s going to happen. It’s always possible to make a comeback like we’ve seen many times throughout football history. Tottenham is one of the teams that have quite a few great examples of amazing comebacks. These are the types of events that you’d wished you’d bet on because they seemed so unlikely at one point. The fact that you never know what is going to happen in a football match is also why betting is so fun. You can read more about betting in the UK at https://betting.com/gb/, where you can obviously bet on Spurs. Do some research by reading about some of the greatest comebacks in history right here.

Ajax vs. Spurs (2-3), 2018/19

One of the greatest Spurs comebacks of all time wasn’t too long ago. In this 2019 game, all hope seemed lost at one point. But with 45 minutes to go of this Champions League semi-final, Spurs suddenly got into the game. Lucas Moura scores the first goal, and then off we go. Spurs end up with 3 goals and go home with a victory. It was nothing short of an astounding comeback.

Spurs vs. Nottingham Forest (2-1), 1990/91

Another comeback event a bit farther back in time was the Spurs' game against Nottingham Forest in 1991. This match is one to remember for several reasons. We only had to come back from one goal, but there was nothing but challenges surrounding us. Only a few minutes in, we lost star player Paul Gascoigne aka Gazza. But we managed to get back on our feet and score two goals that led us to victory in this FA Cup final.

Spurs vs. Anderlecht (1-1), 1983/84

Another final even further back was the UEFA Cup Final in 1984. The match took place at White Hart Lane. Due to injuries, we were missing Glenn Hoddle and Ray Clemence, and then we also lost Steve Perryman to suspension. Things didn’t look good for us. We were behind with one goal and feeling the pressure. Luckily, Graham Roberts struck in the 84th minute. In the end, the final was settled on penalties making the Spurs win 4-3. This made this 1984 game one of the major comeback matches of all time!

Arsenal vs. Spurs (4-4), 2008/09

Even though this Premier League game was only a draw, it is still one of their best comebacks ever. During the entire first half, we were mostly just chasing the ball. The only exception was Bentley’s opening goal. But the second half ended up becoming a frenzy of goals that in the end led us to a draw against Arsenal.
