Leicester City v Middlesbrough 1-2
Peter Taylor's side had only themselves to blame for the loss of
three points. They had dominated much of the first half but lacked
the conviction that could have put the game beyond salvation for
Middlesbrough. Jones had given them a 10th minute lead when Wise slipped
the ball to Davidson who let fly from some 36 yards out. Schwarzer failed
to hold the ball properly and Jones quickly whipped the ball into the net.
Jones was later involved in a collision of heads and did not re-appear
after half-time. Middlesbrough sent Marinelli on after the break and his
long runs often produced panic in the Leicester defence. However,
Leicester seemed to have done enough to secure three points until Ince
struck in the 85th minute. Marinelli crossed the ball from the right wing,
hitting Deane and then Sinclair in flight and broke loose for Ince to
volley the ball home from close range. Three minutes later, Schwarzer sent
a long ball downfield. Elliott and Davidson failed to clear the ball and
Greening was on hand to sweep the ball into Walker's net in the 88th
minute.

Blackburn Rovers v Bolton Wanderers 1-1
The Trotters looked to have done enough to go clear at the top of
the table following Rod Wallace's 69th minute goal. They took the lead
against the run of play when Wallace headed them ahead from a Gardner
corner. Blackburn threw everyone forward in a desperate search for an
equaliser but which did not materialise until the dying moments of the
match. Duff took a corner from which Neill, completely unmarked, headed
home in the 87th minute.

All postponed matches arise out of the fact all European matches were
cancelled last week and the ties re-arranged for this week.
(See for the league table at that stage)
Cheers, Brian
