Whilst Spurs are safe all bar the shouting, mathematically, Leeds could overhaul us, if they won all three of their remaining fixtures, and we got only 1 more point. This coming Sunday, Leeds kick off at Bolton at 2 p.m., whilst Spurs will be an hour behind them at Villa Park. Whatever the Spurs result, we should be totally secure in the Premiership by 4 o'clock on Sunday.
Of course, if Spurs play like they did in the second half against Arsenal, they could give anyone a game, so maybe they can keep up the effort and finish with a flourish.
Most Spurs fans would have left the stadium yesterday with their heads held high, despite the fact that Arsenal secured the Title on our territory. It does not however have the same ring about it as 1971, as that was the last league game of the season, and Arsenal HAD to get the right result, whereas this time, we all knew they were Champions elect.
Here's another piece of trivia for you from this week's games:- Danny Murphy's converted penalty at Old Trafford was the first scored there in the League by an opponent since Norwich in 1993!
This then, should be the last "relegation watch" (this season)and next week, you'll just have to look out for the regular Premiership Review. Don't forget, there are now three years of Premiership archives here at Spurs Odyssey, together with the last seven seasons of exclusive Spurs reports, which include many Reserves and Youth match reports. Just check out The Archives Page!
