Do you remember I told you that Christmas 1994 was the last time we were above Arsenal at the festive time of year? It was during the same season (94-95) that the Gooners last lost three consecutive Premiership games, which is a record they equalled on Sunday, when losing to Chelsea. Oh, how I enjoyed those glum faces behind the North Bank goal as Chelsea scored! Not that I like Chelsea any more than our near neighbours, you understand.
Anyway, Santa has already delivered for me, with our place above "The Others" in the Premiership, plus our Reserves' win last night. Now, in "The Times" we hear of how they desperately need Champions League football next season to "service their debt" for the new stadium. I've had trouble keeping the smug grin off my face, I can tell you!
Obviously, we need the situation to continue, and we mustn't count chickens, but speaking personally, I hope for a return to form on Boxing Day for Charlton, as they host our hated rivals. Arsenal, did, after all, lose four consecutive games in that run in March 1995.
Incidentally, Spurs conceded three goals for the first time since February. Bolton were the victors, who also scored three against us when losing 4-3 in the Carling Cup last year. Charlton and The Gooners were the only other teams to score more than 2 against us last season.
Time constraints and the number of fixtures next week are likely to lead to the briefest of Premiership Reviews, but don't forget you can check the archives for detailed statistics of Premiership results and placings in recent years.
Merry Christmas Spurs fans, and I wish you the "Spursest" of New Years!
