Spurs failed in their bid to have their last game replayed, after a fiasco on the day of the most crucial league match they had played in years, when no less than 10 players were struck by food poisoning and due to fudging of the issue by the FA Premier League Chief Executive (who was at Highbury), Spurs decided they dare not risk failing to play, and a possible loss of points. Thus their five month hold on fourth place was relinquished to their hated rivals, and a new episode of Spurs Arsenal hatred entered into folklore.
