Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2007-2008 - Match 16
The Last Time ............

· ....... Spurs won and Arsenal lost on the same Premiership week-end was between 31st March and 2nd April this year. I well remember enjoying the Fanzone banter between the opposing supporters, as the gooners got a 4-1 bashing. Spurs beat Reading 1-0 on Sunday 1st April, thanks to a Robbie Keane penalty.
· ....... Jermain Defoe scored a League goal was on Thursday 10th May, when we drew 1-1 at home to Blackburn. Defoe started that game beside Berbatov, and Robbie Keane was the substitute who replaced Ghaly, who himself had been a substitute. This of course was the occasion when Ghaly threw his shirt to the ground and he has not worn a Spurs shirt in competition since.
· ........ Spurs were 13th in the Premier League was on 1st September, after our 3-3 draw at Craven Cottage. That was one of the too numerous occasions this season when a late concession of a goal has cost Spurs dearly.
· ........ Spurs did NOT beat Manchester City 2-1 was on 4th January, 2006, when we beat them 2-0 at Eastlands! Mido and Robbie Keane scored the goals. The last four meetings between the two clubs have ended 2-1 in our favour, and that was also the score at White Hart Lane in March 2005. Spurs have yet to lose a game at Eastlands Stadium.
· ........ An Italian player scored against Spurs was on 20th January this year, when Fulham's loan player Vincenzo Montella scored from the spot in the 84th minute to give the home side the lead. The Spurs equaliser came two minutes before the end through yesterday's opening scorer - Pascal Chimbonda! Montella is a Roma player but is now back in Italy on loan to Sampdoria. He did feauture in both Sampdoria's games against our UEFA Cup Group G opponents, Alborg.
