Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season for 2008-2009 - Match 36
|
No double over Spurs this season
· All the Spurs Stats you could hope for here! THFC6061 Sports Stats
With thanks to my good friends Declan Mulcahy and Paul Yarden for their input to this item:-
Now that the trip to Goodison Park has been successfully negotiated, no Premiership team can complete 'the double' (i.e. win both home and away league games) against Spurs. This is the first time in the seventeen years that the Premiership has been in existence that Spurs have gone through an entire season without any team completing a double. The last season when no other team completed a double over Spurs was 1982-83 twenty six years ago.
Spurs have done the double over West Ham United this season and could also potentially do it over Manchester City or Liverpool if they beat either of these teams in the final two league games.
No doubt our excellent record against the Top Four has had everything to do with this latest statistic in a Spurs season of records such as "worst start since the Titanic", and potential clean sheets records. Manchester United are the only top four team to have beaten us with one game at Anfield to come:-
