Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2009-2010 - Match 12

Did you know?

After 12 matches last season, Spurs had just 8 points and were fourth from bottom. Liverpool were seventh then too, with 21 points. Portsmouth were fifth at that time, mainly because of the work of their former manager - Harry Redknapp!

It took Spurs until the end of January 2009 to pass their current 22 point mark. After beating Stoke on 27th January, we were in 13th place with 24 points, still only three points off the bottom.

Heurelho Gomes was convincingly your man of the match for the Sunderland game with a mark of 8.7 out of 10. In the absence of the injured Luka Modric, Gomes is currently Spurs' best player of the season, according to your grades.

Conversely, skipper Robbie Keane was once again voted as our worst player in the latest game, and has been regarded as such in 4 of our last 6 games. Robbie is however, our top scorer in all competitions so far, and remains on target to pass the 100 league goal mark for Spurs in the not too distant future - perhaps before the end of the season. Robbie currently has 91 league goals for Spurs in a total of 223 games.

Tom Huddlestone scores moderately as far as performances go this season, but he has now scored more goals than any midfielder this season, and only Keane, Defoe and Crouch are ahead of him. Congratulations go to Tom who has been selected for the England squad for next week's friendly against Brazil. Tom has started all 15 of Spurs' games this season (the only player to have done so), and unsurprisingly has played more minutes than any other squad member. In all games Ekotto, Corluka, Palacios, Bassong and Keane are behind Tom (in that order) with regard to minutes played.

Of our goal-scorers, Jermain Defoe has a marginally better minutes per goal ratio than Keane with 115 against 124 minutes.
