Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2009-2010 - Match 17

Every week throughout the Premier League season, Spurs Odyssey posts a Premier League review. Not every item is given a "headline", but if you keep an eye on the Spurs Odyssey home page then you can keep up to date with the progress of your favourite team.

The feature is in its ninth season now, and it is often interesting to compare results and placings with the last or other preceding seasons.

For example, did you know that after 17 games last season Spurs had just 19 points, but City were also below us with just 18 points?

Did you also know that it took us till early March this year and 27 games before we passed the 30 point mark with a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough? Some difference, eh?

With his two goal haul last night, Niko Kranjcar has reached 4 goals already for Spurs, in just 9 Premier League starts, and 3 substitute appearances. That equals his best league tally for Portsmouth, and that was achieved in 31 starts in the 2007-08 season. Harry redknapp is certainly getting the best out of Kranjcar now, and he is surely the signing of the season for Spurs this term.

Jermain Defoe's goal is number 13 in his Premier League tally this season, putting him level top of the scorers' list alongside Didier Drogba.

Spurs win over City last night was their 11th in our last 12 meetings (including one Carling Cup game), but you have to go all the way back to February 1958 (5-1) for a bigger winning margin by Spurs aginst one of our current favourite opponents. Not bad against a team assembled for some £200 million, eh?
