Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2011-2012 - Match 19
Spurs fans have everything to look forward to in 2012!

The latest round of Premier League results have produced three quite amazing results, as three of the top four sides going into the New Year round lost their games. I refer of course to both Manchester teams, and Chelsea. Whilst Spurs fans have expressed some dissappointment with only getting one point from Swansea, that already looks more like a point gained than two points lost.

Spurs have gained 4 points from their last two games, both of which have been away from home. Man City managed just one point, and now face Liverpool at home on Tuesday night, while we are at home to West Brom, who drew at home to City, but lost at home to Everton. None of the top four contenders did better than us. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal had two home games. We now have three key consecutive league games at home!

That last gasp Ji goal for Sunderland against City was a fantastic moment in football, whatever team you support (barring Newcastle and Man City, I suppose). Yes, it was offside, but it was just the sort of energy-sapping effort that I admire most in the game of football, whether it leads to a goal, a winning tackle, a save, block or pass.

This so-called invincible Man City side have now lost two of their last five league games, and drawn another. Significantly, those below par results have been away from home. City have won as many away games as Liverpool (5), whilst Spurs have won 6, and Man Utd have won 7. In the last 6 match form guide, City are 6th best, with United, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Stoke ahead. No wonder Roberto Mancini looked so down-hearted after that Sunderland defeat, with Kenny's boys next on his agenda!

The next game is always the most important of course, but those Spurs fans who were less than happy after New Years Eve's draw should feel good about their team, its achievements so far this season, and about what is to come in 2012!

I haven't closed the survey quite yet for the Swansea game, so there might still be time for you to vote here:-

"Spursometer" for Swansea game

At the time of writing. Kaboul and Sandro were level pegging for the man of the match vote, confined of course to Spurs players.

COME ON YOU SPURS!
