Time to believe?
We've played three games since our last Premier League review, scored 6 goals and not conceded one. The Cheltenham FA Cup game is not included in this review, but it's great to know we have finally caught up with the rest of the league in terms of games played.
We've lost the L for the Stoke result off the commonly used last six games form guide, and I have seen this match referred to as "FOY" rather than an "L" for lost!
We've taken full advantage of the fact that four of our last six games have been at home, but remember, our away form has been marvellous too. I can tell you that on the basis of that last six match form guide, Spurs are currently top of the table. Sunderland, Man Utd, Liverpool and Stoke are the next teams, with top of the 20 game table (Yes, the one that counts) Man City languishing in sixth place, having lost two recent away games. They've also lost their last two home games in the FA Cup and League Cup. Hopefully, City will still be in some relative disarray when we meet them on 22nd January.
The Like for Like table is looking good as well, with Spurs currently 14 points better off than last season, based upon the results of the same fixtures. In more simple terms though, we are 9 points better off than we were after 20 games last season. Check out the Like for Like table in our 2011-12 Premier League Review Index.
I've not yet closed the survey for this week's "Spursometer", but currently, Benoit Assou-Ekotto is edging the man of the match vote, with 22 year old Jake Livermore only marginally behind. "Benny" scored an amazing goal of course, along with his assist for Aaron Lennon's goal, but Livermore's pass completion rate was an amazing 76 of 77 passes. Rafa van der Vaart won the man of the match vote in the West Brom game, and Giovani was your man of the match against Cheltenham. The fact that he couldn't make the 18 for the Everton game tells you something about the strength of our squad, doesn't it?
Dare Spurs fans believe the dream of a Premier League title? We'll certainly knoww a little better after that Man City game, and whilst we still have to play the rest of the top six teams once more (4 of them in away games), all the big teams have to play each other too, don't they. So, let's carry on believing that it could happen, shall we?
