Everybody is talking about Bale - me too!
Everybody is talking about Gareth Bale this week, and I am not going to break the trend. He inevitably feataures in this post Premier League match 27 review.
Firstly Gareth Bale was by far and away your man of the match, following another two goal game; a sensational winner, and a 9.3 out of 10 score. It's Gareth's seventh successive maan of the match win, which includes two games in which he shared top spot from your votes. That makes 11 man of the match votes so far this season, and three scores in excess of 9.
Bale has taken his Premier League goal tally to 15 for the season, which lifts him to third place (level with Michu) in this season's score chart. Van Persie (19) and Suarez (18) lead that table.
With these latest two goals, Gareth has now become our fifth highest scorer in the Premier League years. He has now scored 37 Premier League goals for Tottenham, twelve behind Chris Armstrong. The top three Premier League scorers for Spurs are Teddy Sheringham, Robbie Keane, and Jermain Defoe. Defoe is on 89, just eight away from that top spot.
Gareth has now scored 8 goals for Spurs in our last six games. We are talking about a strike rate that matches Jimmy Greaves at his best here, but of course only over a short term. Two goals in each of the last three games in which he has scored is quite a phenomenal record for Bale.
Spurs eighth away win of the season is a Premier League record for the club. We managed seven in 1993-94, 1995-96, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.
Finally, for the third time in our Premier League history, we are unbeaten in 11 games. We will beat the record on Sunday if we avoid defeat against Arsenal!
