A hex on Swansea
Spurs have now played Swansea seven times since they reached the Premier League in 2011. Our record is Played 7, Won 6, Drawn 1 and Lost 0. Now that's the sort of record we like! Swansea must regard us as being a hex upon them.
Pure statistics like that do not tell the story of the games, of course, and five of those seven games, including Sunday's match, have been tightly contested affairs. I look forward to Swansea visiting us in early March for the next leg of this affair, in which we clearly have our best points per game ratio of any current Premier League team.
Harry Kane won your man of the match vote, with Christian Eriksen close behind. Television coverage (live and highlights) focussed upon Kane's goal; his overall effort and attempts, and not least upon the pressure he put on the Swansea defence which led to Eriksen's winning goal.
Talking of hexes, the word is that Emmanuel Adebayor is back at Tottenham and back in training, so maybe we can look forward to seeing him back in acton over the busy Christmas period.
Regarding sequences, Manchester United have won their sixth consecutive game. They've all been in the league, of course, because that's the only tournament they are involved in this side of Christmas. It's sad that they have recovered their form before our meeting on 28th December, and that we couldn't have met them during their rough start to the season.
QPR have lost all 8 of their away games, whilst Burnley (who we meet on Saturday) have crept out of the bottom three with their win over Southampton, who lost their fourth consecutive game, and haven't won in their last five. That bubble seems to have burst.
Incidentally, Burnley have slightly better form than Spurs over their last six games. Surely, we can put an end to that on Saturday, can't we?
