Eyes on the prize!
Last week, I got excited about the fact that no less than 5 of our team which faced Manchester United (and beat them 3-0!) scored 8 or more on the spursometer.
This week, the team exceeded that standard. On the official site, it was the whole team which was voted "Man of the Match", but here on Spurs Odyssey you don't get the option to vote in such terms. You have however voted so positively that 7 of the 11 starters scored 8 or more. That is unprecedented in the history of this site. The level of praise - all justified, of course - on Sky's Monday Night Football, and in the wider media has been just as high. It certainly is a wonderful time to be a Spurs fan.
Harry Kane just edged your vote here, ahead of Dele Alli. Both got two goals, but the whole team does deserve that equal praise, with Rose, Alderweireld, Lamela and Eriksen all accorded your highest marks.
Similarly your marks for the team performance and for Mauricio Pochettino's selection, tactics and substitutions have never been so high. Not even when beating Man City at home and away, or when we thrashed West Ham 4-1. You have clearly stated this was the best team performance of this wonderful season. Four more performances of that nature could yet give us the ultimate prize and the realisation of all our dreams.
Several teams have been playing catch-up this week, with most relevant games in hand affecting Spurs now played. We are five points clear of Arsenal, and seven ahead of Man City. We are mathematically close now to securing top four (one win), and two wins will secure top three. Those are great prizes, but all Spurs fans want to see us above Arsenal (for the first time in 21 years, and therefore the first time in Wenger's reign). Incidentally, Arsenal still have to play Man City away in the penultimate game of the season. One way or another the result of that game should be good for Spurs!
Most of all, of course, we want to see that League Title, and although that is a tough task, all eyes are on the prize!
