Worst day of the Poch era
Sunday's embarrassing final day 5-1 defeat at Newcastle was without question our worst performance of the season; the worst performance and biggest defeat in the Poch era, and arguably our most embarrassing defeat since a 6-1 FA Cup replay defeat on the same ground in December 1999.
It is not fair or appropriate for me to linger on the understandable despair of Spurs fans at the end of what has been a good season, with our best ever Premier League position, and Champions League football to come for the second time.
However, just for the record, we went above Arsenal in early February, and stayed there - in second place - until Sunday. They pipped us on the last day 10 years ago, which was the "Lasagne-Gate" episode. Last Sunday was undoubtedly far worse for Spurs fans.
We were angry. Poch was angry, and I'll just quote a couple of repeatable comments made for the survey after the game:-
"An absolute shocker, total capitulation, started the game at pedestrian pace. Not been the same team since the Albion game, lost for words, had our best season for years, still can't finish above ....." (You know who)
"Lamela's rating is solely for being the ONLY one to put any effort in."
Erik Lamela was voted the best Spurs player with only 4.9. That's the lowest "man of the match" grade of the season.

Still to come this season are my May review, and an overall review of the season. Norman Giller will be submitting his blogs throughout the summer too.
