Eriksen is on the up!
Everything is going right for Spurs' playmaker Christian Eriksen at the moment. Not only did he score two of our goals and create the third against Hull, but he won the Spurs Odyssey man of the match vote for the second time in three games. Eriksen hit 8 out of 10 for the CSKA game, and has gone a little better with 8.1 against Hull.
Christian's recent burst of goal-scoring has also lifted him up the Premier League goalscorers' chart and he is only two behind Harry Kane. Kane has seven league goals. Eriksen is also two behind Kane in all competitions this season (7-9).
This time last year we lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle, and from experience, we know all too well how often banana skins fall in front of our team. Not this time though, and hopefully not on Sunday either when we host Burnley. We gained ground on Arsenal, who lost at Goodison Park, and will gain ground (provided we do our job and beat Burnley) on Sunday when Arsenal play Man City away. One or both of those teams will lose points.
We are four points better off after 16 games than this time last year, but significantly, leaders Chelsea have five more points than did Leicester after 16 games.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd as well as Arsenal all have tricky away games this week-end, so I'm in an optimistic frame of mind again. It's a topsy turvy game, isn't it?
Honourable mentions must go to our marauding full backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, both of whom scored 7.6. Both are deservedly in the running for our ongoing player of the season vote too.
