It was a cold wet evening with non-stop rain making passing tricky for a game played in front of a damp crowd of around 150. I missed the start but none of the action. Spurs lined up with Thelwell flanked by newcomer Jacobsen on the right and Quilter on the left in front of Keller. Clemence, Toner and Jackson were in the middle with Snee wide on the right and Matty on the left as usual. Both teams were feeling their way during the first half with few chances due as much to the conditions as the defences.

Kamanan fired just wide on the half hour having drawn the keeper to the left side of the box and then was on hand to meet a beautiful centre from Matty on the six yard line only to clear the bar by as much. Lisbie and Johansson had good chances at the other end.

The second half started with Bartlett coming on for the Valiants who went to 4-3-3. Doherty came on for Spurs and went up front. Ten minutes into the half Jacobsen was taken off after doing a good job, and was replaced by Consorti. Calderwood shuffled the side by moving Doherty into the back three, pushing Consorti forward and sending Snee up front. This led to our goal when Consorti came in from the right giving the ball to Jackson, who played a one-two with Snee before volleying past the stranded Ilic.

The lead was short lived as the three Charlton attackers caused problems for our backline and equalised when Johanssen met Robinson's centre inside the box. Kamanan then headed a cross from Etherington onto the bar before we gifted them a second goal. A long diagonal ball played in from just inside our half was left by Thelwell and Doherty allowing Bartlett to steal in and head over the advancing Keller.

Doherty almost made amends when he carried the ball out of defence before getting on the end of Snee's centre, only for the "goal" to be ruled out for offside. Spurs kept the pressure on the home side for the rest of the game looking for the equaliser, despite the home side breaking out forcing Keller into a couple of important saves. Kamanan fired wide and Clemence and Jackson had good efforts saved before Ilic brought Yannick down in the area. No penalty was given as Yannick had pushed the ball to far and was a little dramatic.

Herron came on just before the end and went to the left back position. Quilter moved to the right side and Doherty again went up front to no avail as in stoppage time another Charlton break saw Kishishev centre for Bartlett to force over the line.

It was a little hard on our lads, but the experience of the home side told in the end as they were more positive and quicker. Next week it is the big one - Arsenal at home - well at Stevenage actually. With a Champions league match the day before Arsenal may not field as strong a side as they usually put out against us.
