Look at this as an opportunity

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” - Winston Churchill

Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas would do well to refer to Winston Churchill's words amongst those he chooses to inspire his team before tomorrow's game against Liverpool.

It's FA Cup quarter-final week-end, but there are 6 Premier League games being played, and Sky have chosen our game at Anfield to go head to head against the biggest quarter-final match of the week-end being played at Old Trafford between Man Utd and Chelsea. The M6 could be interesting after the games, with all four sets of supporters heading home!

It is not quite the anniversary, but it is still worthwhile to mention that 18 years ago on March 11th, 1995, Gerry Francis' Spurs beat Liverpool at Anfield in a memorable FA Cup quarter-final tie. The full story of that day can be read here, but suffice to say that Jurgen Klinsmann's late winner kept the smiles on Spurs' fans' faces for a long time!

There might be an opportunity for another German to make his mark on this game for Spurs. That man is Lewis Holtby. Lewis made his Spurs debut coming off the bench at Norwich, and showed enough skill, speed and energy to convince those who saw him that he was a great signing, and a great prospect for Spurs. Holtby also impressed in his next two Spurs games, but has yet to play 90 minutes, and has made three starts in his seven appearances so far. Lewis has yet to score for us, and that is not necessarily his forte, but with Clint Dempsey and now Aaron Lennon doubtful, there might be a start for Lewis tomorrow. At the very least, he will be involved.

Spurs have an opportunity to widen the gap above their challengers for a Champions League place, with Chelsea not playing a league game this week. Arsenal are also not playing. Liverpool, despite being 12 points behind Spurs have not given up on the Champions League yet and will be desperate for three points.

A win is a possibility for Liverpool too, who are in great form currently. They've been banging the goals in, with Luis Suarez top of the Premier League score chart (21), and new signing Phillippe Coutinho (signed from Inter) in creative form. They'll be the main dangers for Spurs to neutralise, but Villas-Boas will have a good game plan, as always.

Despite Liverpool's form, Spurs need have no fear of the team in red. We've won 4 out of the last five games against them, and were last beaten at Anfield in January 2010. Last year we came away with a point in a 0-0 game, where our squad was threadbare, with Khumalo, Luongo and Lancaster on the bench. We achieved that result without key players such as Defoe, Lennon, Kaboul, Van der Vaart and Sandro, and we can offer as much, if not more of a threat tomorrow. (Last season's away game - 0-0)

I'd love to have Lennon fit tomorrow, of course, especially as he was one of our scorers in the home game this season , and we never lose when he scores. (This season's home game - Spurs won 2-1)

Adebayor will be available, after missing Thursday night's game, but I'd expect Defoe to start this one, although of course both might play. AVB's biggest decision could relate to the defence, and who he chooses to play in the middle, but don't ask me who will play, because our leader rotates the defence more often than other areas of the team. Pace and defensive guile will be the requirements here though, rather than aerial ability.

Don't take any notice of BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson, who is a Liverpool man anyway, and thinks it is time for Spurs to lose. I am going for a scoring draw, but there is every chance we could come back from Liverpool with all three points. It should be another great game!

Did you know? - Gareth Bale could become the first Spurs player to score in 6 consecutive premier League games tomorrow, and the first to perform the feat in the top flight since Garth Crooks did it in 1984-85. It was Crooks of course who scored the famous winning goal for Spurs at Anfield in March 1985, and ended a famous long standing run of failing to win at Anfield since the sinking of The Titanic in 1912!

Tomorrow's match referee will be Michael Oliver. The only other Spurs game he has refereed this season was our defeat at Man City.

· Ten years ago, there was no Premier League football on quarter-finals week-end, but this feature will return next week.
