Spurs know how to beat The Arsenal!
Spurs do know how to beat The Arsenal! They've done it at home for the last two years, and haven't lost a home league game for over 6 years. Remarkably, despite all the recent negativity and poor results at Norwich and Chelsea, a win tomorrow would put Spurs on their best points total after 30 Premier League games, and it would keep them on target to beat their all-time total.
Tim Sherwood knows how to beat the Arsenal! In November 1999, he scored our winning goal after a free kick (Spurs 2 Arsenal 1 - 7th November, 1999).It took too long for Spurs to beat Arsenal again in any competition (it was the 5-1 League Cup win in January 2008), but we have also beaten them 4 times in recent years in league games.
Younes Kaboul knows how to beat The Arsenal. He scored the winning goal five minutes from the end of an away game at The Emirates in November, 2010. (Arsenal 2 Spurs 3). Incredibly, apart from Aaron Lennon, Kaboul is the only playing member of the squad that featured in that game who could appear tomorrow. Three years is certainly a long time in football.
Aaron Lennon knows how to beat The Arsenal. It was Lennon who put us 2-0 up in the 39th minute in last year's game . Mertesacker got one back for Arsenal, but we held on for a win that put us seven points clear, and into third place. We all know what happened after that, all too sadly.
We could do with a Lennon goal tomorrow, to maintain that "we never lose when he scores" record. Aaron has only managed one more goal since that Arsenal game. That was in this season's 3-0 home win against Stoke.
Emmanuel Adebayor knows how to beat the Arsenal. He was in our team last season, and the season before, but he hasn't scored a winning goal for us against his old team. He did famously run the length of what was then called The Eastlands Stadium, Manchester in 2009, when he scored in a 4-2 win against Arsenal. Adebayor has scored more goals in London Derbies than any other player, but sadly most of them (8) have been for the enemy. Adebayor is an injury doubt for Spurs tomorrow, after his knock against Benfica on Thursday.
Kyle Walker and Mousa Dembele are also said to be struggling for fitness, and we know that Chiriches, Lamela, Capoue and Dawson are absentees.
Like Spurs, Arsenal suffered a set-back in Europe this week, after an aggregate defeat against Bayern Munich in The Champions League. They have also suffered knocks in recent league games. Having led the Premier League for so much of the season, they find themselves 7 points behind Chelsea; behind Liverpool on goal difference, and probably behind Manchester City, once the Mancs play their games in hand.
Of course, Arsenal won't count themselves out of the title race, but realistically they probably have to brush themselves down and go for the FA Cup, which could be their first trophy for 9 years. They will be without Ozil, Wilshere, Walcott and Ramsey, with left back Gibbs also a doubt.
Danny Rose knows how to beat The Arsenal! How we'd all love a repeat of his wonder goal that truly put him on the Spurs map in April, 2010. Rose's defensive duties will be more important tomorrow though, with Kyle Naughton likely to play at right back, and Kaboul with Vertonghen in the middle.
Tomorrow's referee is Mike Dean. He was in charge when we beat Arsenal in October 2011 with goals by Rafa van der Vaart and Kyle Walker. Arsenal generally don't have a good record with Mr Dean in charge.
Kyle Walker is just one Spurs player hoping to go with England to the World Cup held in Brazil this summer. You can stay up to date with the latest odds, betting tips and how all the Spurs internationals are getting on at latestfreebetoffers.com.
Spurs know how to beat The Arsenal! Can they do it tomorrow? Yes, they can, and I'm predicting a white-hot 2-1. Come on you Spurs!
