This could be the last time

This could be the last time we play Hull, who are the favourites to join Burnley and QPR back in the Championship. Once again, it looks as if "The Tigers" will manage just two consecutive seasons in the Premier League. They avoided the drop by one place and one point in 2009, and by a better margin last year. (Two places and four points)

Believe it or not, Hull's points record is better than ours over the last six games. Despite losing four of the last six, Steve Bruce's side gave themselves a lifeline with dramatic wins over Liverpool and at Selhurst Park, over a Crystal Palace side that had already assured their Premier League future. "It's all over now"? Perhaps not for Hull.

After all, Spurs really do seem to have been doing their very best not to qualify for The Europa League. "You can't always get what you want", and in the case of Spurs fans, that was Champions League. Despite the desire of many not to go into the Europa League, a win tomorrow will surely get us over the line next week, when Southampton play at Man City, and Swansea face Man City this week-end.

Of course, on current form, and with a history of poor results against relegation-threatened sides, it would be just like Spurs to give us our "19th nervous breakdown". Most of us often wonder if our commitment to Spurs is a "Love in vain".

Perhaps the biggest attraction tomorrow will be to welcome back the lion-hearted former Spurs captain Michael Dawson. Some Spurs fans have been commenting this week that we have missed his qualities of leadership and determination this season. Michael's defensive frailties have sometimes been evident for his new team this year, but he will get a fantastic welcome tomorrow, which he thoroughly deserves. When he left early in the season, Michael said that one of his biggest memories was being captain of the side which beat AC Milan in the San Siro on 15th February, 2011. Now that certainly was a "Ruby Tuesday".

Our 2-1 win at Hull in November was one of several such wins, when our goals were scored by Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. Eriksen's last minute winner hid a performance which had been less than convincing in the early stages when former Spur Jake Livermore put the home side into the lead.

Last season's home game was also an unconvincing win, with Spurs relying upon a late penalty by Soldado for the three points. It was Spurs' first Premier League win over Hull in three attempts. Yes, we've even managed to lose to them at White Hart Lane before. That 1-0 win was followed by a League Cup meeting, which we only managed to win on penalties.

Mauricio Pochettino has announced that Danny Rose is "fully fit" this week, which explains why he was only on the bench last week, and perhaps explains why he was not used. It doesn't really explain why he was even selected for bench duties. Chiriches is of course suspended, which will be a relief to many Spurs fans, who can't ssee the footballer in the Romanian international. Chiriches actually had a positive impact upon that away game at Hull this season, when he combined well with Aaron Lennon, now likely to become another ex-Spur".

Hull will be missing Gaston Ramirez, who has a hamstring injury. Ramires was sent off in the game at Hull, after kicking out at Dembele. Hull have also been without defender Curtis Davies since January; midfielder Mohamed Diame since last month; and Robert Snodgrass since the start of the season.

We won't be seeing Jake Livermore, following his positive test for cocaine, and club suspension, but Tom Huddlestone will be giving it his all. Even if they do lose tomorrow, Hull cannot be relegated on the day, because Sunderland and Leicester meet this week-end. However, Hull have to face Man Utd on the last day of the season.

Pochettino, who says that none of his players are safe in his planning for next season, must convince his team that they have as much to play for as Hull. As much as anything, the players need to convince the fans that renewal of season tickets is worthwhile. (The deadline for renewal is 5pm on Monday)

"Come on" Spurs! Let's "Not fade away"! "We love you" after all. Give us some "Emotional rescue"!

If we do win, my headline will probably be "Stone me, we won". I will predict a 3-1 win.

Tomorrow's match referee will be Anthony Taylor, who will be in charge of us for the fifth time this season. The last time was the Capitaal One Cup Final on 1st March. In fact we've lost three of the four previous games he has refereed for us this season. Hmmmmmmm.

· 10 years ago we had a disappointing end to the 2004-05 season
