Spurs to take advantage of makeshift defence?
On Tuesday night, Watford achieved back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the third time this season and moved into the top half of the table on 37 points, almost certainly securing a third consecutive season of Premier League football. The "Hornets"' victims were the usually so resilient West Bromwich Albion, who are also secure on 44 points. Watford Captain Troy Deeney scored his tenth league goal of the season, but manager Walter Mazzarri has had a couple of set-backs this week. Firstly, former Spur Younes Kaboul went off in the first half of Saturday's win against Sunderland, and now fellow defender Miguel Britos got two yellow cards against West Brom, and will also miss the game at White Hart Lane. Watford will also be missing Prodl with a rib problem, so hopefully Spurs can take advantage of a makeshift defence tomorrow.
It was Kaboul who scored an added time consolation goal for Watford on New Year's Day at Vicarage Road, as Spurs raced to a second successive 4-1 win with two goals for Harry Kane and Dele Alli. Those goals put Dele in the middle of a Premier League record for a midfielder, scoring a brace in three successive games.
Those previous back-to-back wins for Watford included games against Manchester United and most notably a 2-1 win against Arsenal at The Emirates in January. Watford's focus has been on league games this season, after an early league Cup exit at home to Gillingham, and a fourth round FA Cup defeat against Millwall. It is an interesting fact that Spurs beat both those teams in later rounds of those competitions this season, both very convincingly!
Spurs have their own injury problems, but first the good news - Harry Kane will be in tomorrow's squad! Mauricio Pochettino has not decided whether Harry will start or not, but confirmed that he did return to full training this week. So, that could be good news for tomorrow, but sounds definite good news for mathes later this month, including the FA Cup semi-final.
Spurs could have their own mini-crisis though, and that relates to the goalkeeper position. Hugo Lloris needs to be assessed tomorrow regarding his fitness, following illness, and Michel Vorm sustained a knee injury on Wednesday. Pau Lopez will be on stand-by for his first senior start, but hopefully either our number one or number two will be okay to play. Victor Wanyama will also be assessed on the day. Danny Rose is not ready yet, but hopefully we will see him later this month.
Whatever the strength of the Spurs team tomorrow, I think we will overcome a weakened Watford side, and quite convincingly - say 3-0. If Harry doesn't start, I'd like to see Son towards the right with Vincent Janssen in the middle. Spurs will surely be on the front foot from the outset tomorrow, as they seek to put Chelsea under a little more pressure when the play at Bournemouth at tea-time. A win would put Spurs within four points of the leaders.
Spurs are also seeking to equal a record of consecutive home wins in one season by reaching number 11 in this fantastic run. We have currently won five consecutive league games, and six games in all. Spurs are also currently unbeaten in their last 8 games in all competitions.
Tomorrow's match referee is Anthony Taylor, who is kept busy these days. This will be Mr. Taylor's fourth game in charge of us this season. His previous games include the 4-0 win at Stoke and the home win over West Brom by the same scoreline. I won't mention his last game for us at Anfield.

· Reviewing Spurs' last Champions League Season - 2010-11. 6 years ago on Saturday 9th April, we beat Stoke 3-2. Peter Crouch scored two goals against the team he would subsequently join.
