Oberndorf Tournament 2018, Germany
3rd - 5th August 2018
I did not hear about this tournament until after it had started so cannot give great detail. It was an U-19 tournament with Spurs including most of the players who took part in the U-23 Tournament on the previous weekend in France. Some new academy scholars filled in for those too old or in Girona with the senior team. This was Matt Wells' first tournament in charge as Spurs were drawn in Group A with SC Freiburg, Team Schwarzwald and Red Bull Salzburg.
The squad was: De Bie, Freeman, Hinds, Cirkin, Duncan, Walcott, Lyons-Foster, Okendina, White, Tainio, Pochettino, A. Shashoua, Thorpe, Mukendi, Roles, Bennett, Markanday, Clarke and Parrott.
Friday 3rd August (4pm)
SC Freiburg 0 1 Tottenham Hotspur
Team: De Bie; Tainio, Hinds, White, Walcott, Lyons-Foster, Markanday (Pochettino 44), Duncan, Parrott (Mukendi 26), Shashoua (Roles 26), Bennett
Scorer: Shashoua 19
Spurs took a first half lead when Markanday played in Shashoua to score. Young Markanday had already made chances for himself coming in from the wing. Lyons-Foster was sent to the sin-bin for five minutes during the second half as Spurs held on to open their campaign with a win over last year's winners. Red Bull drew in their game against Team Schwarzwald.
Saturday 4th August (11am)
Tottenham 2 0 Team Schwarzwald
Team: Freeman; Tainio (Hinds 31), Cirkin, Duncan (Shashoua 31), Walcott, Okendina, Pochettino, Thorpe, Mukendi(Parrott 42), Roles (Markanday 35), Clarke
Scorers: Thorpe 2, Mukendi 14
Two goals in the first half allowed Spurs to make changes in the second with the final group match being played later in the day. There were some differences in the reports from the Spurs official site and the tournament site which suggests that the shirt numbers of the players were not the same (common problem with Spurs).
Saturday 4th August (3.45pm)
Tottenham 0 3 Red Bull Saltzburg
Team: Freeman; Clarke, Cirkin(Hinds 26), White(Markanday 26), Okendina, Lyons-Foster, Pochettino, Thorpe, Bennett(Parrott 26), Roles (Shashoua 23), Mukendi
Booked: Pochettino 40
Having won the group after two wins Spurs utilised the squad for the last group match which saw the Austrian side win with three second half goals.

Team: De Bie; Tainio, Cirkin(Mukendi 46), White, Walcott, Hinds, Markanday, Duncan, Parrott, Shashoua(Roles 50), Bennett
In a game where Spurs had the better of the play they went behind to a deflected free kick to the eventual winners of the tournament. Red Bull lost to Inter Milan in the other semi-final to face Spurs in the placement game.
Team: De Bie; Hinds, Cirkin, Duncan, Lyons-Foster, Okedina, Pochettino (Parrott 31), Thorpe (Shashoua 35), Mukendi(Markanday 35), Roles, Clarke (Bennett 31)
Spurs picked themselves up to win their last game to finish third. Having hit the woodwork twice when Mukendi hit a post and Markanday hit the underside of the crossbar, Spurs won a penalty when Parrott was fouled. Roles stepped up to score from the spot. Spurs held out to record the best finish at a tournament this summer, I am just sorry that I was not there.
