Let's do this Tottenham!

While Spurs were drawing away and beating Eintracht Frankfurt at home, Sporting were losing both their games to Marseille. Firstly they lost 4-1 away to Marseille, before they couldn't even manage a goal at home and lost 2-0. Sporting had never before won their first two Champions League Group games, and were top of our group. Now, we sit at the top of a group which is so tight that going into this round, any of the four teams COULD finish top.It goes without saying that any two of the four teams could yet qualify. Having said all that, if Spurs win tomorrow night they will guarantee qualification and lead the group going into next week's challenge at Marseille.

Both games in Group D kick off at 8pm BST. Marseille are away to Eintracht. In truth, it could be win or bust for Spurs tomorrow, as next week's trip to France and the visit to Marseille looks difficult with all the safety messages being given to those fans planning to travel next week. The atmosphere inside and outside the Velodrome is bound to be intimidating, so let's do this now Tottenham!

Memories of our away game against Sporting are not good, bearing in mind the influence of former Spurs Academy player Marcus Edwards and the two late goals we conceded.

Sporting have had mixed domestic results as well as their two recent Champions League defeats. They won 3-1 at home on Saturday and climbed back up to fourth place. Paulinho, who scored in their 2-0 win over Spurs, opened the scoring for Sporting, and his goal was quickly followed by goals for Nuno Santo and a Pedro Goncalves penalty. Goncalves is suspended tomorrow, having been shown two yellow cards in the last Champions League game against Marseille. Ricardo de Sousa was also sent off under the same terms in the same game, and also misses out.

Sporting have had two domestic defeats since our last meeting. They lost 2-1 away to Boavista when Marcus Edwards last scored, and they also lost 1-0 away to Varzim (who are top of Portugal's Tier 3) in a cup game.

Bentancur, Dier, and Højbjerg are at risk of suspension from next week's game if booked tomorrow. Spurs will be through to the round of 16 if they win. They will be confirmed as group winners if they win and Marseille lose.

Ben Davies did not start our game against Newcastle and was lined up for today's press conference, which suggests he will start tomorrow. Antonio Conte has said that both Richarlison and Kulusevski are definitely out. Hojbjerg and Romero will be assessed tomorrow. Antonio was quoted as saying:- L?ucas Moura "is a player recovering from a long injury", adding: He's improving but there are moments when you have to take some risks." This suggests that Lucas might start tomorrow's game.

It should be a great home atmosphere, and I am going to predict a win for Spurs!

Match referee Danny Makkelie and all his officials are from The Netherlands. Mr. Makkelie is a high profile official at home and abroad, regularly taking charge of European and International matches. This is only his second Spurs game in the middle though, after refereeing our 1-0 away win in March 2019 when Harry Kane (of course) scored our winner and Hugo Lloris (of course) made a string of vital saves.
