Spurs v Nottingham Forest, 22.03.26

Tottenham Hotspur 0 Nottingham Forest 3
22 March 2026

The previous week with a draw against Liverpool at Anfield and a win at home to Atletico Madrid had given some grounds for hope.

Today was a vital match against Nottingham Forest another team in the relegation scrap. There was much enthusiasm among the home supporters before the match. Sadly everyone's hopes were dashed. Spurs suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat and Forest are now the team with the momentum in the relegation fight.

The Premier League home match jinx happened again. Spurs had opportunities in the first half but couldn't score. Forest scored just before the interval and humiliatingly added two more in the second half. All three goals were down to poor defending by Spurs. One team showed the desire to win and it wasn't Spurs.

In five Premier League games under Igor Tudor Spurs have lost four and drawn one. In three disastrous home games Spurs have lost 1-4, 1-3 and 0-3. Spurs hadn't conceded more than two goals in a home Premier League match this season before Tudor was appointed.

Spurs haven't won any of their last 13 league matches (D5 L8), equaling their second longest winless run in league competition in their history (also 13 in November 1912). They've only had a longer run once before, going 16 without a victory between December 1934 and April 1935.

Tottenham have won just 30 points from 31 Premier League games this season - accounting for 3pts/win all-time, this is their joint-lowest return after 31 games of a league campaign, along with 1914-15 (30).

Tudor hasn't been responsible for all of the above results. However his record to date doesn't suggest he is capable changing things or saving Spurs from relegation.

There is a three-week break before the Premier League resumes. It seems likely that Spurs senior management will consider replacing Tudor. That is the easy part of the decision. The harder part is whether there is a credible candidate who is prepared to assume the poisoned chalice at this stage in the season.
