Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2012-2013 - Match 14
Gareth Bale wins man of the match v Liverpool

Spurs star Gareth Bale was out and out man of the match for his performance in last night's match against Liverpool. Bale of course had a hand in all three goals, laying on Aaron Lennon's opener, before totally bamboozling goalkeeper Jose Reina with a free kick that many observers thought had taken a deflection, but which in fact just took a change of direction once it beat the Liverpool wall. Bale's own goal was as unfortunate and involuntary as they come, and detracts not one iota from his overall match winning performance.

Bale might easily have scored more goals, with two great free kick chances, and another shot across the goalmouth that did not miss the target by much. AVB's remarks about Bale after the game were worrying, only in the sense that it seems Spurs are resigned to Bale moving on at some point. Let's hope that does not come to fruition.

As mentioned in the report, we climbed above Everton and Arsenal last night, and with both Chelsea and West Brom having disappointing results, third place is only three points away. Still, it only takes one bad result to bring back the gloom and doom mongers, so let's not get carried away.

I am now going to prepare my review of November, which will include an interesting contrast between the performances of the team and their Head Coach. Look out for that then!
