Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2013-2014 - Match 26
Lloris and Adebayor go head to head

Nearly 200 votes were cast in the post-Newcastle match survey, and from the outset it was clear that the man of the match award would be between goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and leading league goal-scorer Emmanuel Adebayor.

Adebayor has now scored 8 league goals in 11 starts, all of which have been under Tim Sherwood's management. Adebayor needs just twow more goals in all competitions to overhaul the 10 goal totals of Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe.

In our last five games, the man of the match vote has gone to either Adebayor or Lloris. Hugo has led the vote in three of our last four games.

These two players are the current front runners for our Player of the Season vote.

Nabil Bentaleb won his best vote of the season so far (7.9) and continues to justify Sherwood's faith in his 19 year old protege. I maintain that Bentaleb looked out of his depth against Yaya Toure and Manchester City, but I have often sung his praises in his blossoming Spurs career. Bentaleb can claim two direct assists for the Newcastle game, and clearly thrived in a more attacking role.

This was Hugo Lloris's 20th clean sheet for club and country this season, and the third in the last 6 games. Such a performance against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in March would be more than welcome!
