Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2014-2015 - Match 13

Keep the intensity Spurs!

At last, it has been good to be a Spurs again after Sunday's excitingg win over close rivals Everton! Lot's of good things have been said about our team, and it was worth watching Sky's post-match punditry for that reason alone!

Glenn Hoddle is one you'd expect to be as positive as possible at all times about Spurs. He gave great credit to Harry Kane for his effort, for his ability, and for his style of making runs with his head up, and taking that vital moment to consider the alternatives around him. As one who did watch Kane in his Academy days, he was always at his best "in the hole", and Glenn identified that playing in the middle of the attacking midfield three, behind Soldado worked perfectly for Kane. Of course, this wasn't the first time this season that Mauricio Pochettino recognised that potential.

Jamie Carragher remarked that with very few exceptions every member of the Spurs team would get 7 or 8 out of 10 for their performance, and so it proved with the Everton spursometer showing exactly that, with Chiriches and Fazio (marginally) the only players of the starting 11 not to score 7 or more.

Goalscorer Eriksen got an 8, but it was Harry Kane who won your man of the match vote, as he did on Sky, for his influential performance, having a hand in both goals. It was his shot which Howard could only push into the path of Eriksen, and his tackle on Gareth Barry which led to Spurs' surging attack, and winning goal in first half added time.

Gary Neville commented that this was the best he'd seen Spurs play for two or three years. Such was the intensity offered by every player, together with a display of passing skill, and intelligent movement.

Let's hope our team can keep the intensity going tomorrow at Stamford Bridge and beyond!
