Still more to be achieved by Kane

Spurs Odyssey voters were not sufficiently influenced by Sky's award of man of the match to Paulinho to affect their favour for 30-goal scorer Harry Kane, who presumably won the vote primarily because of his record-equalling goal.

Kane joins an elite club of five other Spurs players who have reached the 30 goal level since the Second World War. They are Gary Lineker, Clive Allen, Martin Chivers, Jimmy Greaves, and Bobby Smith.

All the other members of the club scored in pre-Premier league days, but they all scored more league goals, and of course Greaves and Smith remain our top two goal-scorers of all times. Greaves hit over 30 league goals four times in his career (twice each for Chelsea and Spurs).Bobby Smith hit over 30 league goals in a season twice for Spurs. Clive Allen hit that marvellous total of 49 goals in the 86-87 season, 33 of which were League goals.

Harry Kane can become our highest ever Premier League goal-scorer if he beats the 21 achieved by Gareth Bale (2012-13) and Teddy Sheringham (1992-93). He currently stands level with Jurgen Klinsmann (1994-95).

Harry is still a young man, of course, and will be 22 in July. The PFA awards are being announced this week, and Kane's marvellous season just goes on and on. He would be the first to acknowledge there is so much more to be achieved.

All Spurs have to do now is stay above Southampton to definitely secure a place in Europe next season. A win at St. Mary's on Saturday would be difficult, but brilliant!
