Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premier League Season
for 2016-2017 - Matchday 28

There is very little to report for our Matchday 28 review, with only four Premier League games being played on the week-end of the FA Cup Quarter-Finals. Spurs, of course, were busy beating Millwall 6-0 in the last cup tie to be played at the current incarnation of White Hart Lane.

Everton and Liverpool both played at home in the league this weekend and this has never happened before. (Thanks to Declan Mulcahy for this information.

When the fixtures are arranged they are always arranged so that one plays at home and the other away. Just like Tottenham and Arsenal.

When this years fixtures were released Liverpool were at home to Burnley in the second game of the season. They wanted more time to finish the building extension at Anfield. So they were granted permission to switch around the Burnley fixtures playing away first and at home this weekend.

Despite their win, Liverpool remain below second-placed Spurs, and have now played one game more. With or without the injured Harry Kane, Spurs should feel confident of beating Southampton next Sunday thus gaining further ground on Liverpool and/or Man City, as those two teams also meet on Sunday.
