An in-Vorm goalkeeper!
There is nothing unusual about a Spurs goalkeeper being voted the Spurs man of the match in recent years, but it is certainly unusual in the case of Hugo Lloris's deputy Michel Vorm. Since stepping in for the injured number one Hugo Lloris in the 35th minute at Goodison Park, Michel has done more than "not let us down" in his three appearances. He has excelled, and this was certainly recognised by the hundreds of voters who gave Vorm an 8.4 assessment for his display against Liverpool. That is the best performance of any Spurs player so far this season.
Because of Hugo's virtual ever-presence in Premier League games, Michel has had little chance to show his ability, and more often than not has not been rated as anywhere near the standard of our club captain. In his third season now at Tottenham, Vorm has made just 6 Premier League starts, but he has made plenty of European and Cup appearances (14 in all). In just one of his previous appearances (Burnley 0 Spurs 0 - 05.04.15), Vorm was voted Spurs' best player, and that was one of those "least worst player" votes.
On Saturday, Vorm made great reaction saves, and also admirably performed the "sweeper-keeper" role so often required of Lloris.
Three of our five England players - Kane, Dier and Alli - are looking less than 100%. Kye Walker was ill not injured and he and the impressive Danny Rose complete the five selections in Sam Allardyce's first England squad.
Sadly, Christian Eriksen was graded our worst player on Saturday with a very poor 4.6. Two wasted shots on goal did not help his cause I suspect.
We seem to have made a slow start to the season, but it is better than last year, and the results match those achieved in the same games last year. Add the fact that we are still above Arsenal, and things are not so bad!

P.S:- Referee Bobby Madley received his worst mark in charge of a Spurs game (4.1) drawing more comments than average. He was criticised for allowing Sadio Mane to stay on the pitch; being soft on Liverpool players in general; failing to award at least two penalties to Spurs, and awarding a harsh penalty against us. Other than that he was alright!
