For the last group match Spurs started with Granger in goal behind a defence of Ball and Gardiner with McEvoy at right back and Colovic on the left. McEneff joined Smith and Grant in the midfield with McQueen up front. To McQueen's right was Michael-Percil, and to his left was Zapata-Caicedo.
Spurs kicked off attacking the south end in the first half and showed some early determination, but it was nearly ten minutes before the first effort on goal when Zapata-Caicedo fired wide. Biscotti then fired wide for Standard.
Spurs took the lead when Ward got round the back and crossed for McQueen to finish from a couple of yards. Mezgrani drove wide and Biscotti fired over. Granger had to save from Van Den Ackerveken and then Marquet put his effort over as the half was finishing.
Inglethorpe made two changes for the second half with Akindayini replacing Colovic on the left with Smith dropping to left back and Lameiras replacing McEneff in the midfield. Ruben Lameiras had the number 4 on his shirt and had to change into the number 20 as his own shirt had been left in the changing room.
Granger had to save from Marquet before Standard made three changes themselves. Michael-Percil fired over before Lameiras was booked for a late tackle on Marquet as Spurs tried to find the passing game they had played at the start of the game.
When Maricosu handled the ball outside his area Lameiras took the kick which was half cleared to Ward. The captain hit his dipping shot over the bar. A long ball over the defence found Biscotti running through in acres of space to fire past a stranded Granger to draw Standard level. Spurs play went to pieces after that with Smith booked for fouling Mezgrani.
Coulthirst was introduced in place of Michael-Percil to pep up the attack and McQueen fired over before Spurs let in another goal. A free kick on the left found Fiore at the near post who turned the ball home as he was falling on his back. Spurs pushed everybody forward in search of an equaliser with Coulthirst driving wide before the final whistle.
The loss means that Spurs finish last in their group and will have to play Anderlecht for the wooden spoon tomorrow. (Sun 5th August, 2012)
